This Cinnamon Roll Waffle recipe begins with a simple waffle batter recipe. You can use this for just a plain waffle or as a base for any variation you conjure up! In this case, I’ve added cinnamon roll filling and frosting to make it a Cinnamon Roll Waffle.
Follow this recipe and you’ll end up with 3 different elements: waffle batter, cinnamon sugar filling, and a delicious cream cheese frosting! As you’ll see in the screenshots, I made a waffle that has all three inside as well as one where the frosting is simply a topping

The Cinnamon Roll Waffle you see above is the one that has frost and filling cooked inside. It turned out tastier because of the caramelized sugar.

The one above has no frosting inside the waffle. It looks much nicer but didn’t taste quite as good.
Regardless of which waffle you create, I promise it will taste delicious!
Ingredients
Waffle Batter
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Filling
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 – 3 tablespoons milk
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Make the Batter
1. In a medium bowl, mix together the dry batter ingredients: all purpose flour, sugar, salt. and baking powder.
2. In a large bowl, whisk the two eggs. When thoroughly scrambled, add the vanilla extract, oil, and milk and mix until well combined.
3. Slowly introduce the dry ingredients into the wet. Once you’ve mixed all the ingredients into a uniform mixture, your simple waffle batter is complete! Set aside and continue making the filling and frosting
Make the Cinnamon Roll Filling
1. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon and butter.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and continue mixing. If your filling doesn’t seem to come together, add the third and final tablespoon of milk. See photos for the target filling consistency
3. When done, use the filling to fill a piping bag. I learned this cool trick using a tall glass to help fill the bag.

4. Set aside and continue making the frosting
Make the Cream Cheese Frosting
1. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer to reach the proper frosting consistency.
2. Fill a piping bag using the same method. Set aside for use when cooking the waffle
Cook the Waffle
1. After heating your waffle iron, assemble your waffle! My first attempt I layered in this order: filling, batter, frosting, batter, filling. This produced a tasty but UGLY waffle. My second try, I layered batter, filling, batter then simply topped with the frosting. It came out much prettier but not quite as tasty.
2. Cook the waffle for 5-10 minutes until desired “doneness” is achieved. With the frosting and filling, the waffle is a bit wetter and heavier than a regular waffle so consider cooking for longer than a normal waffle.
