SPAM French Toast (SPAM Recipe: Episode 1)

Welcome to the first episode of the first season of my Battle of the Dishes series!

For the first season, I chose SPAM as the common ingredient and French Toast was a popular request!

I used the French Toast Recipe from All Recipes and simply added slices of SPAM to it. Nothing any more special than that!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (Optional)
  • salt to taste
  • 6 thick slices bread
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, or more as needed
  • a little bit of oil
  • 6 slices of SPAM (or however many bread slices you have)

Directions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, salt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and milk. This will be your batter

2. From a loaf, slice your bread extra thick: about 1 inch. Then slice the bread to create a pocket in the middle large enough for your SPAM.

3. In a pan, lay down some oil and pan fry the SPAM until a little golden brown on the outside.

4. Remove the slices of SPAM from the pan and insert them into each bread slice.

5. Dredge each bread slice in the batter and fry in a pan oiled with butter. Fry until you reach your desired consistency
