Sushi Rice

3 ingredient sushi seasoning to turn your rice into sushi rice. Does not include the time it takes to cook rice

  • 1 ½ cups white shortgrain rice cooked (measurement before cooking)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (6g)
  • 2 tablespoon granulated white sugar (25g)
  • ¼ cup unseasoned rice wine vinegar (50g) no added sugar or sweetener


  • In a small bowl, combine salt, sugar, and rice wine vinegar. Whisk together until the salt and sugar is fully dissolved. You can heat the vinegar a bit to help in this process.
  • Scoop the rice into a large bowl by skimming rice off the top. The idea is to not smash any rice but to simply lift it off the top.
  • Pour the contents of the vinegar mixture over the entire bowl of rice. With a rice paddle, fold the rice until the flavoring has spread evenly. Use small taste tests to determine.
