Ingredients

For the Toast

  • 1 brick of bread You can make your own using my cube bread recipe.
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ stick butter melted

Toppings

  • ice cream
  • fresh fruits
  • stick biscuits such as Pocky
  • nata de coco coconut jelly
  • sweet drizzle I used an ube drizzle but sweetened condensed milk is an easy alternative. If you’re opting for decadence, chocolate fudge works too!
  • assorted nuts
  • chocolates
  • buttery biscuites
  • ... and much more!

Instructions

  • Obtain a brick of bread. I can’t say I’ve seen any square bricks in any bakeries near me besides sliced shokupan so you are probably better off making your own. Naturally, it doesn’t have to be square. Rectangular is better for sharing!
  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF
  • With a knife, cut out a pit in the bread to make it seem like a nice square shaped bread basket. Slice the removed section into medium cubes for toasting.
  • In a small bowl mix together melted butter and honey. Baste the outsides of the bread basket with this mixture and dredge the cubes.
  • Line a baking pan with parchment paper and place the bread basked and cubes. Bake in a preheated oven at 350ºF for 20 minutes or until desired toast level is achieved.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Then fill with all your toppings!
